Sociologist and self-taught painter, Paolo Camporota was born in Catanzaro on 8 July 1972.
His artistic research takes shape at the intersection of sociological training and painterly practice, giving rise to an original path in which art becomes a tool for analysing and reflecting upon the human being and their relationship with contemporary society.
Camporota's painting is characterised by a powerful emotional impact and a deep psychological introspection. After an initial figurative period of Expressionist origin, the artist progressively evolves towards abstraction, developing a personal reinterpretation of the figurative image. His language occupies a borderland between Surrealism and Abstract Expressionism, in which abstract forms and vibrant colours lead the viewer to search for the subject among the multiple visions and emotions evoked by the work.
Each work can be read as a veritable figurative essay: images dense with symbols, dreamlike suggestions and existential tensions establish an open dialogue with the observer, stimulating emotional and interpretive participation.
Through visual language, Camporota explores inner dynamics often difficult to express in words: anguish, solitude, the search for meaning, but also hope, resilience and wisdom.
Camporota produces very few unique works, to which he is emotionally bound. His painting is not oriented towards serial production, but towards a long process of psychosociological study, analysis, research and experimentation. Each work is born from a meditative journey that may last months or years.
The purpose of his art is not the end result in itself, but the narration of emotions and introspective reflection as a possibility for respite and understanding of contemporary living.
