Johann Stockner: "Arte Incontaminata" - Solo Exhibition in Turin
Art as nature: the visual language of Johann Stockner
The Accorsi Arte gallery in Turin, Via Fratelli Calandra 9, is pleased to present "Arte Incontaminata", the solo exhibition of Johann Stockner, on view from 5 to 19 November 2022.
Johann Stockner was born in 1944 in Chiusa, in the village of Velturno in South Tyrol, surrounded by a landscape where nature remains intact and primordial. He describes himself as a self-taught artist, an "active friend of art": his artistic journey began in childhood, nurtured by a fascination with Chinese calligraphy, which instilled in him an awareness of the sign as a symbol charged with meaning.
Matter and nature as an expressive vocabulary
Stockner's works are deeply material and emotional. The artist collects elements directly from the earth - sand, stones, slate, marble, fragments of recycled materials - and transforms them into compositions charged with formal balance and symbolic meaning. On wooden supports or fibreboard panels, these materials come to life through the integration of acrylic colours that amplify the luminosity of the surfaces.
Arte Incontaminata: the concept
The title of the exhibition encapsulates the artist's philosophy: an art born far from commercial currents, trends and market contamination, faithful to its inner root and to the silent dialogue with the natural world. An art that stimulates the viewer's personal reflection, inviting them to be silent and to look with fresh eyes.
Throughout his career, Stockner has dedicated part of his activity to art therapy, working with inmates and former inmates, confirming his conviction that art has the power to transform and heal.
