I was born in 1944 in Chiusa, in the hamlet of Velturno near Bressanone, in the Autonomous Province of South Tyrol/Alto Adige. I am self-taught and I call myself an "active friend of art". My journey towards art began as a child. It all started when I leafed through a book on Chinese calligraphy, which utterly fascinated me and brought me for the first time to writing through simple scribbles. With just a few lines I could paint a letter that also held the value of a symbol. It is precisely because of those early childhood memories that I still wish today to make pictures with Chinese symbols or pictures on a contemporary theme. My work is emotional, where material, form, colour, and composition are essential. Nature serves as a reservoir of raw material — earth and sand, pebbles of every kind, slate, marble, and even recycled materials. To add lustre to my work I also use acrylic paints from time to time. Natural material has become my signature. I worked in the social sector, primarily with inmates and former inmates, practising art therapy with them.
