Biography
Antonino Parrimuto is an iconic Italian painter whose roots lie in Pop Art, combined with an innovative vision and an unceasing quest to capture the emotions hidden within our bodily expressiveness and the intensity of gazes. Since early childhood, his passion for drawing has never left him: he constantly holds a pencil and prefers to draw everything he sees from life, his eyes observing attentively as his hand glides across the paper.
At first it was simple pencils and charcoal, then colour took over, giving him the opportunity to describe his innermost essence, his feelings, his emotions, his deepest states of mind. Acrylic and oil colours became his favourites, a modern, luminous style of painting that favours faces and bodies.
The canvases, initially white, thus become like pages of a book to be filled, where colours replace the words that write the chapters of his life. The artist has always maintained that the work should not speak, or even whisper, but rather "scream" every emotion held within, that it must burst out forcefully and reach the viewer with clarity, regardless of what kind of feeling it stirs, whether joy, love, torment, sadness or happiness….
Something must reach us, and it must reach us at once: at first glance — this is the deepest essence of Antonino Parrimuto's work.
