TRASCENDENZA

In transcendence there lies a dualistic conception: the supersensible world is set against the sensible world; we construct empirical reality with our senses, listening to them and following them. In this work, Parrimuto releases the senses onto the canvas, making us hear them before we see them; they are perceived as strong, wrapping around us like a warm blanket and keeping us safe. A gaze that looks beyond, upward, aware of the importance of the journey undertaken until reaching the supersensible world, perceived with the eyes of the mind and of thought. On the figure's body, the path drawn reminds us of the effort, the dangers and the trials faced; the wounds and scars remain to remind us of it, while the light in the eyes reflects the soul's fulfilment at having overcome its own limits by descending into the depths. Parrimuto invites us to reflect on the importance of going beyond, with an open and receptive mind, to reach profound dimensions, underlining the need to see beyond the superfluous, always putting ourselves on the line without fear.
