Roaring Twenties

"Roaring Twenties" is a graphic celebration of the 1920s woman. The minimalist, frontal portrait is split in two by an asymmetrical cascade of colourful, sparkling shapes adorning the left half of her face. The shimmering golden eye and the scarlet mouth — the only revealed elements — create a fascinating duality between revelation and ornament. Through clean lines and material blocks of colour, Viotti-Gilabert captures the essence of the free, exuberant and modern femininity of that era. A statement piece for any collection.

ARTISTIC APPROACH

Alessandra Viotti-Gilabert's research unfolds through pictorial cycles devoted to the exploration of universal and contemporary themes: love, dream, memory, biodiversity, the universe, water, poetry and female emancipation.

Her work is based on a process of inner elaboration in which the image does not represent but reveals. White is conceived as an active, generative field — a space of suspension in which forms and symbols emerge as traces of energy and emotional states.

The practice combines fine-tip black marker drawing with acrylic painting, enriched with iridescent pigments, gold and silver. The works are produced on hand-worked Fabriano cotton paper 360 g/m², an element that strengthens the sensitive and material dimension of the work. The visual language sits in a fusion of essential realism and lyrical abstraction, in a constant tension between control and openness, structure and dissolution.
