Alessandra Viotti-Gilabert was born in Biella, Piedmont. She had the privilege of training in the atelier of master Pippo Pozzi, a Renaissance-style art workshop, cultured and literary, frequented by famous artists and intellectuals.
In 2014 she moved to France and redefined her style, immediately recognized by critics and appreciated by the public. Since then, exhibitions have followed one another in France and abroad: in Paris, Honfleur, Barcelona, Berlin, Athens, Rome, Milan, Bologna, Tokyo, Seoul, in the Principality of Monaco, etc. in galleries and places like the Grand Palais in Paris and the Metropolitan Art Museum in Tokyo.
In the last eight years, she has 50 international exhibitions to her credit, including 7 solo shows and a retrospective, and has received 13 Awards in Paris, Barcelona, Tokyo and Rome.
Alessandra Viotti-Gilabert works in pictorial series that all explore a central theme: love, dream, biodiversity, the universe, memory, women's emancipation… Her works are the fruit of meticulous study and deep reflection. They are characterized by vivid colors and a subtle fusion between realism and abstraction in a minimalist style. Realism manifests itself in the essential representation of her subjects. Abstraction, as far as she is concerned, is found in the expression of colored symbols that gravitate in choreographies around characters carrying emotions and ideals. Alessandra Viotti-Gilabert works with a fine-point black felt-tip pen to realize the drawings of her compositions and with acrylic painting and iridescent pigments, gold and silver for the symbols. She uses Fabriano 360 g/m² cotton paper with frayed edges, hand-worked, as support.
I do not want to reduce art to decoration or communication that would refuse to listen to sensitive realities. I desire an art that resists impostures and simulacra. An art that commits itself by escaping the impatience of limits. In the era of entertainment and social fragmentation, in this rather disembodied world where we lack the authenticity of beings and the power of action, I see the practice of painting as the possibility of recreating meaning in relationships with our fellow men, with nature, with the world. Art, without becoming a social manifesto, is more than a mere witness to the world's tumults, precisely because it is capable of thawing souls, of robbing spirits and hearts of the protocols that imprison them, of freeing emotions, questioning the world, decentering the gaze to make men feel the secret harmonies of the universe.
